The Indianapolis Hebrew Congregation
was founded in 1856. This third synagogue building for IHC was dedicated
November 2, 1899, by Rabbi Isaac Mayer Wise. Designed by the architectural
firm Vonnegut and Bohn, the 10th and Delaware location is exemplary of a
classic renaissance style, fairly popular for late nineteenth century synagogues.
