Incorporated in 1848, Reform congregation
Berith Kodesh bought a building on Gibbs Street from a Baptist congregation.
In August 1876, the cornerstone of this new synagogue building was laid,
symbolizing the growth and continuing reforms of the community. The synagogue
was completely destroyed in a fire on April 13, 1909, and their new building
(not pictured) was designed by Pierto Belluschi.
