Jewish Synagogue: Houston, TX Ohef Sholom Temple: Norfolk, VA
Temple Beth-el: San Antonio, TX
Temple Beth-el dedicated this building in 1904. In 1927, the Reform congregation moved to a nearby location. The ark was bricked over, and this structure was converted into a bank. During a recent demolition, the sealed ark was rediscovered, along with the original temple's eternal light. Local myth boasts that its flame was still burning. Congregation Beth-el uses this eternal light in their current sanctuary. For more information, please visit www.beth-elsa.org.
